Lava Vine, located in Calistoga (off of the Silverado Trail), is a truly dog friendly winery.   Dogs are welcome in the tasting room where they will find a comfy loveseat upon which they can sit.  While standing at the tasting bar, dogs can admire framed photos placed perfectly at “snout height” of dogs playing and vineyard shots.   I (The Casual Canine) was greeted by a friendly staff and immediately offered a dog treat.   Lava Vine is a popular dog destination in wine country as it was loaded with the scents of prior visiting dogs.   In this environment, with so much to sniff, I found that I had a hard time remembering my commands and at one point had to be reminded that I am not allowed behind the tasting bar… no matter how interesting all of those wine bottle sounds may have been.    Given my excitement, I had trouble holding still for the camera despite being in canine utopia.   The Casual Connoisseur mentioned that the wine was good so I know that she and I will be back to visit again in a few weeks.  Next time I will hold still for better photos!
